Man am I proud of you! I bet you doubted yourself and didn't think that you would make it but here we are at the end of July, all done.
Living plastic free is so incredibly hard and no matter how many people tell you that what you did is easy, remember that they probably couldn't care less and they are the people who are destroying our world. Its a massive achievement and I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have.
I also hope, more than anything, that you have learnt something. Talking today to a friend of mine who participated in plastic free July, she said that she never realised how much plastic she used until she tried living plastic free. Plastic is absolutely everywhere and even for conservationists, it is unavoidable. People say we can just live plastic free but it isn't that simple. Its up to the manufactures and supermarkets to lead the way and cut plastic from the beginning. We just cant avoid it. If only all the supermarkets agreed to charge 50c for every plastic bag, imagine the change that would evoke! People would suddenly bring their own bags because no one wants to pay for bags!!!
I am very pleased with the outcome of my challenge and I hope it has inspired you to be more mindful of the plastics that you are using. I am hoping to run a similar challenge next year so let me know if you have any suggestions or comments so I can make next years Plastic Free July challenge, even better! ;)
