Unfortunately, I can't make it to all these amazing events so I thought I would share them with you so that hopefully, you can join them and speak on behalf of the wider community who cares about protecting this world.
If you can't make it, that's no problem! Send the details to your friends and make sure that everyone knows about these campaigns so we can help to build these movements to a point where the big kids cannot ignore them anymore.
#Stop Adani
It started out as a result of work by The Australian Conservation Foundation, Greenpeace and other organisations but it has grown into it's very own platform with a huge following from the public.
"The Adani megamine has been given most of the approvals it needs. With both major parties refusing to stop the project, we must keep pushing until we #StopAdani and win a clean energy, safe future."
The Adani coal mine is set to be one of Australia's biggest - because we aren't burning enough coal already? - and will have severe effects on the environment should it go ahead.
You can follow this project on the Stop Adani website where you can add your name to petitions and attend events and protests. They also have lots of information about the issues concerning this megamine and how we can all get involved to help stop it.
Citizens of the reef
My favourite thing is their option to own have a colour of the Great Barrier Reef named after you! I know - it's crazy! You can pick from a range of colours and choose your favourite to have your name put on it. (I chose a lovely sea blue)
"We take a unique, data-driven approach to reef conservation that’s powered by you. From citizen science to sustainable fashion to ditching single-use plastics – everyone has a part to play."
Definitely check out their website and I would love it if you all became Citizens of the Reef!
Woolworths and coles: end excessive packaging!
Run primarily by Greenpeace, this initiative is trying to get Coles and Woolworths to reduce the amount of unnecessary packaging found on their fresh produce. I am sure you have noticed it as well - there is some seriously crazy amounts of packaging out there!!!
"Australians love the ocean and all that lives in it, which is why a walk down the fresh produce aisle at your local supermarket can be so frustrating. Plastic-wrapped bananas. A plastic tube of apples. A handful of mushrooms on a plastic tray, swathed in plastic wrapping."
If you are also frustrated with these excessive amounts of plastic wrap, I recommend head over to the campaign page and add your name to the petition. It only takes a second and it will really help to put the pressure on these big supermarkets to up their game and catch up with the rest of society.
